Who I Am
I am the owner of 2 businesses: Mismikado Creations (est. 2010) that offers graphic design, freelance writing, and other creative services and You & Me Birth Services (est. 2015) where I work as
a postpartum doula.
Creativity runs through my blood leading me to wake up every day with the desire to be productive and artistic. This brings me the greatest joy in the work that I do.
Growing up around the sign industry, it was a given that I would follow in my father's footsteps and become a designer. I started my studies with formal art lessons under the direction of New England artist, Stephen Previte, in addition to learning digital techniques from my dad, a renowned artist and engineer in the sign industry.
In high school, I went on to take a vocational course in Graphic Communications and Printing Technology under master printer, Jay Zaccone. I also served as Academics Editor on the yearbook committee and Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper.
Immediately after graduation, I completed a graphic design workshop at the New England Institute of Art in Boston. I eventually went on to study Digital Media Design Technology at Texas State Technical College - Harlingen while serving as Vice-President of the photojournalism and design club which oversaw the campus magazine.
While in college, I gained on-the-job experience in the fast-paced world of print and sign shops. This helped me build skills and techniques to deliver exactly what the client wants on a fast turnaround.
In January of 2010, I became a freelance contractor under the business name Mismikado Creations with a primary focus on the wedding and event industries. That October, I joined the non-profit Balch Springs Arts Alliance as a visual arts teacher and marketing consultant.
In 2012, I branched out on my own to focus on couture stationery design. My work was even commissioned for the premiere of a Major Motion Picture.
